AAJAz SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION 2008
Eligibility:

Applicants must be an undergraduate or graduate student, enrolled full time with at least 12 credit units each semester for the fall of 2008 and the spring of 2009 school year.  Applicants must be currently taking journalism courses and/or pursuing a career in journalism.  AAJA membership is encouraged for all applicants and is required for the selected scholarship recipients.  For membership, please apply online at www.aaja.org. 

Selection Criteria:

Candidate(s) will be selected on the basis of academic and overall achievement, demonstrated journalistic ability and aptitude, financial need, commitment to the field or journalism, and sensitivity to Asian American and Pacific Islander issues / minority issues.  

How to apply:

*Submit three, collated copies of the following items. 
1)    Completed, typed application form 
2)    Resume (please limit to 1 page)
3)    Official transcript (one must be original, two may be copies)


*Answer the follow questions.  (Typed, double-spaced.  250 words or less for each question.)
 
1)     How will you contribute to the field of journalism and/or media issues involving the Asian American/Pacific Islander/Minority communities.
2)     What does 'ethics in journalism' mean to you?
3)     In what ways have you worked to prepare yourself for a career in journalism?


*Optional, but highly recommended:
You may submit up to three, non-returnable work samples.  Examples include print articles/clippings, broadcast stories on DVD, VHS or audio tape, or a photo portfolio.  (one copy only)
